Thiene, the legendary art director of Dior, could not have failed to use gold as a source of inspiration while creating the festive collection of make-up. Why? The history of the fashion house itself suggests the answer: in the late 1940-s, the first Dior collection was created by the designers, in which the master expressed his reverent attitude to this metal. Dior’s love of golden shades can be better described by the dresses that he created, including Aladdin (1947) and Pactole (1949), as well as the gold evening shoes… Examples are numerous. The continuation of this sparkling story is the Christmas make-up collection called The Rouges Or Collection, which includes the lipstick Rouge Dior and the nail enamels Dior Vernis.

The lipsticks are promised to give a “blazing lip effect” when used and are presented in seven shades varying from pale pink to scarlet. The most interesting shade is mere gold that covers the lips with shimmering particles. They are also generously added to all other shades. The creators of the collection warn that one should hardly expect an ordinary pearl shine from this lipstick, because the golden hue merges with the main color, becoming its integral part.

Nail enamels, presented in four versions, are also dazzling with gold. The undisputed hit of the collection is a glossy gold nail enamel resembling molten gold.

Dior Spring 2011 Makeup Products

Premieres of spring and summer collections of Dior makeup are accompanied by significant changes. Dior has new faces, a new approach towards commercials, as well as new and interesting products.

Let us begin with new faces. Natalie Portman has been the face of Miss Dior Cherie fragrance since the beginning of this year. The advertising campaign has been filmed by Sofia Coppola, the celebrated director. And new images should appear at the end of this month.

In late March or early April we will have another premiere. Kate Moss will represent the famous Dior Addict lipsticks line. Dior Mitzah Bricard Makeup Collection

This spring, Dior presents a “leopard” collection of make-up. Its creation was inspired by Mitzah Bricard, Christian Dior’s famous muse. She is known to the fashionable society as a designer of hats. During her life, she adored wearing clothes with leopard motifs and could do that with a special chic and dignity.

Mitzah really had a strong influence on the great couturier. He admired her style of dress, and it was partly due to her that leopard prints appeared in Christian Dior’s collections. Since 1947, such things have always been in the lines of Christian Dior clothes.

It should be noted that, to our point of view, the collection is a little old-fashioned, at least for a couple of seasons. Because it was then that the leopard theme was on its peak. Although this year, too, the prints resembling “a leopard” do not seem to be a mauvais ton.

The collection of makeup called Mitzah Bricard Collection includes only three items: reticulation shadows and two limited edition shades of nail polish.

Reticulation is a real luxury, with the camel, brown, and tan shades. A sought-after thing!

Dior is offering the luxury and shine of gems for your holiday makeup. Each item in New Look Noёl 2009 Christmas makeup collection contains crystal powder to make your look shine and spark in candlelight and in mirrors.
